Whether it's the first internship, job, or career opportunity, it's exciting to see your student's journey picking up steam. CELCS is here with opportunities to help give your student a boost. We encourage you to explore all the ways you can engage with other Tiger parents

 


 

Parents of First-Year Students

  • Support your Tiger’s career exploration if s/he is undecided.
  • Inform your Tiger that there are opportunities to become more involved on campus through short-term projects.
  • Encourage your student to meet with a career adviser.
  • Help your Tiger find opportunities to become more involved on campus through internships with faculty and staff.
  • Remind your student that the experts in CELCS can assist with a range of career-related needs including major exploration, resume creation, cover letters, and more.

 

Parents of Sophomores

  • Urge your student to seek other ways to get skills and experience in a field of interest.
  • Help your student think of possibilities for summer jobs, undergraduate research, or internships.
  • Assist your student with networking, a lifelong process that is instrumental in finding a job.
  • Get involved with signature programs such as 1869 Scholars and Tigerworks.

 

Parents of Juniors

  • Learn about the application process: research and explore programs, think about financing, and start to prepare for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT or MCAT exams.
  • Begin planning the after-graduation job search with the help of experts in Career Services.
  • Attend events and signature programs such as Career Fairs or our etiquette program.

 

Parents of Seniors

  • Emphasize to your student the importance of connecting with the Trinity Alumni Network.
  • Remind your student to meet with a career adviser.
  • Continue attending events and signature programs such as Tiger Connections and Career Fairs.
  • Encourage your senior to use the coaching and resources in Career Services to help them navigate the job search, interview, and negotiation process.
